Justice Manoj Gupta appointed as acting Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court

Justice Manoj Gupta has been given the responsibility of Acting Chief Justice of the Allahabad High court. He will assume his new responsibilities on November 22. He has been given this responsibility due to the retirement of Chief Justice Pritinkar Diwakar on November 21.

The notification issued in this regard states, “In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Shri Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta, Judge of the Allahabad High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 22.11.2023 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Pritinker Diwaker, Chief Justice, Allahabad High Court on 21.11.2023”.

Justice Manoj Gupta was appointed as Additional Judge on 12 April 2013. On 10 April 2015, he took oath as a permanent judge. The Supreme Court Collegium has not yet given its recommendation on the appointment of the next Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court. At Present, there are 92 judges in the Allahabad High Court out of total sanctioned strength of 160 judges.
