Polling to take place For 88 Seats Tomorrow in second phase

Loksabha Polls : Voting for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections is on tomorrow, 26 April. In this phase, voting is to be held for a total of 88 seats in 13 states and union territories including Manipur.

A total of one thousand 198 candidates from 13 States and Union Territories along with four candidates from the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha constituency are in the fray in this phase.

Polling time extended till 6 PM in many polling stations in Banka, Madhepura, Khagaria and Munger constituencies in Bihar to facilitate voters in hot weather conditions.

The seats on which polling will be held in the second round include all 20 seats in Kerala, 14 in Karnataka, 13 in Rajasthan, eight each in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, six in Madhya Pradesh, five each in Assam and Bihar, three each in Chhattisgarh and West Bengal and one each in Jammu & Kashmir and Tripura. Besides this, one part of Manipur is Manipur outer seat.

The reputation of many stalwarts at stake on the seats where voting is to be held in the second phase. These include Union Minister Rajiv Chandrashekhar (Thiruvananthapuram), BJP leader Tejasvi Surya (Karnataka), Hema Malini from Mathura, Arun Govil from Meerut, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi (Wayanad), Shashi Tharoor from Thiruvananthapuram, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar’s brother DK Suresh (Congress) and former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy (JDS).

As per election commission,the voters include 8.08 crore Male; 7.8 crore Female and 5929 Third gender electors  34.8 lakh first time voters are registered to cast their votes. Additionally, there are 3.28 crore young voters in the age group 20-29 years.
