The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that after making landfall in the coastal areas of Gujarat, cyclone ‘Biprajoy’ weakened into a ‘deep depression’ on Saturday and is likely to weaken further in the next 12 hours. There has been a lot of damage in Gujarat due to the impact of the cyclone. Trees were uprooted, houses collapsed and power supply disrupted due to falling electric poles in several areas including Bhuj, Kutch in Gujarat.

After wreaking havoc in Kutch and Saurashtra, Cyclone Biparjoy on Friday (June 16) weakened and moved towards South Rajasthan. In such a situation, the Gujarat government is faced with the challenge of restoring electricity in about 1,000 villages and removing trees that have fallen on the roads.

Due to the cyclone, heavy rains continued in Mandvi, Gujarat. Heavy rains occurred in some areas of Rajasthan on Friday under the influence of Cyclone Biparjoy. Rail traffic was affected in North Western Railway zone due to heavy rains and 14 trains were cancelled.
