The Kolkata High Court on Thursday allowed the Trinamool Congress to organize a Samprati rally on January 22, the day of the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The court directed the West Bengal government to ensure that peace is maintained during the rally.

The petitioner argued that the ‘Sampriti Rally’ is proposed to be organized in all the blocks across West Bengal. However, its clash with the Ram temple consecration will lead to large-scale violence, as various groups have been allowed to organize events to commemorate the consecration in areas across West Bengal.

During the hearing, the division bench gave strict instructions to the state government not to disturb the peace. He also said that it should be ensured that no objectionable speech or statement of any kind is made in the rally, which may hurt the religious beliefs of the people. The court said that if any kind of violation occurs then the organizers will be responsible for it.
