500 More Electric buses flagged of in Delhi, taking total to 1300

New Delhi : If you travel by bus in Delhi then there is good news for you. Just two weeks before the arrival of the New Year, Delhi Government has a gift for common people. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal flagged off 500 electric buses on Thursday.

With this the number of such buses in the national capital increased to 1,300.The new buses are handicapped friendly, fully AC, zero pollution and noise emitting, equipped with GPS, CCTV and panic button.

Addressing the media persons Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal said, ‘Now there are 1300 electric buses in Delhi, which is the highest in any city in India. We have to improve the transport sector.

Taking to X, Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot wrote, ‘Congratulations Delhi! Today we are celebrating another big achievement. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor flagged off 500 new electric buses. Success is never achieved overnight, it is the result of persistence. We are once again moving ahead with a record 1300 electric buses.

Kailash Gehlot further said that the level of pollution increases in winter. A CNG bus emits 800 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometer. An electric bus saves this amount of carbon dioxide from going into the atmosphere.
