Arjuna Award : The Sports Ministry has released the list of names of players and athletes for the sports awards to be given this year. India’s star badminton pair Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy will receive the Khel Ratna Award. The Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who took the most wickets in the ODI World Cup, will be given the Arjuna Award.
Mohammed Shami had a great outing in the recently concluded World Cup 2023. In the tournament, he took 24 wickets in 7 matches making him the highest wicket taker in the World Cup. The Board of Control for Cricket in India had recommended the Sports Ministry to give the award to Mohammed Shami. After which the Sports Ministry accepted this recommendation.
Satwik Chirag to get Khel Ratna
The announcement from the Sports Ministry states that the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award 2023 will be given to Indian shuttlers Chirag Chandrashekhar Shetty and Rankireddy Satwik Sai Raj for their contribution to badminton. Mohammed Shami and other 26 players will receive the Arjuna Award in 2023 for their outstanding performance in sports and games.
