Pondicherry : It is important to reduce carbon pollution from the atmosphere, said Prabhat Jha, Chief zonal manager, Gujarat NSIC Minister of MSME  while addressing  SYNAPSE-2023 a flagship event of Pondicherry university . The theme for the event was transition to net zero economy. The programme was organised by DMS
where Prof. Gurmeet Singh Vice Chancellor, Pondicherry University,  Prassana kumar CMD Neveyali lignite corp
Smt Balakrishnan Charumatiand other international veteran dignitaries were present.

Mr. Jha said that It is necessary to stop putting more carbon into the atmosphere by 2050.The world should be upfront about the cost of decarbonisation and have concrete plans to support those adversely affected, If the current emissions trajectory continues, the world will likely experience climate catastrophe.

2020 to 2030 is the critical decade for climate action. Net zero commitments for 2050 are fine and good but a credible trajectory towards that goal will be substantially determined by 2030, he added.

He also elaborated that transition from a linear to a circular economy -adopting a circular economy in Indian industries can lead to both environmental and financial rewards. It could mean a massive 44% reduction in GHG emissions along with financial benefits worth INR 40 Lakh Cr by 2050. Based on the 3R concept of reducing, recycling, and reusing the waste generated across the value chain, companies are able to eliminate the waste generated at the source of different production points, Mr jha concluded.
