5 Women Ministers In Yogi Adityanath’s New Cabinet

Lucknow : As BJP makes a comeback in the state, a total of 52 leaders including five women were sworn in as ministers in the Yogi Adityanath Cabinet 2.0 on Friday (March 25).

In a mega event organised at Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Adityanath returned as the UP CM for a second consecutive term. Among the 52 ministers sworn in,  two are deputy chief ministers, 16 cabinet ministers and 34 ministers of state (MoS).

Overall, there are 5 women in Uttar Pradesh’s Council of Ministers-

  • Baby Rani Maurya,
  • Gulab Devi,
  • Pratibha Shukla,
  • Rajani Tiwari and
  • Vijay Laxmi Gautam

Baby Rani Maurya, the Jatav MLA from Agra Rural constituency, was sworn in as a cabinet minister. Vijay Laxmi Gautam took an oath as a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government today. She won from Salempur distinct under Deoria district.

BJP’s Rajni Tiwari, a four time MLA won from Shahabad seat in Hardoi district. Pratibha Shukla won from Akbarpur – Raniya seat in Kanpur Dehat district. Gulab Devi, a five-time MLA, who won from the Chandausi constituency in the Sambhal district took oath as a cabinet minister.

The BJP has been victorious in winning 255 seats in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. The saffraon party claimed a voting share percentage of 41 percent this time in UP. The next on the list was Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party that claimed a voting share percentage of 32 per cent.

A monk-politician Yogi Adiyanath was a surprise choice when BJP won the 2017 assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh. A five-time Lok Sabha MP, he was picked for the key role in the electorally crucial state by the BJP leadership and has strived to live up to expectations from him.

Yogi Adityanath gave a strong government in the past five years with improvement in the law and order situation in the state emerging a strong poll theme for BJP during electioneering for the assembly polls.

According to the sources, The ‘double engine’ government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath has taken several initiatives for faster development of Uttar Pradesh and a defence corridor and a major international airport is coming up in the state. During the electoral campaign for the Uttar Pradesh elections, the Prime Minister lauded Yogi Adiyanath’s work and his coinage – “UP plus Yogi bahut hai upyogi” (UP plus Yogi is very useful) became quite popular.
