Author, Philanthropist Sudha Murthy nominated for Rajya Sabha

New Delhi : Author, Philanthropist and chairperson of Murthy trust, Sudha Murthy has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha. PM Narendra Modi himself has given this information on Social Media platform X. Sudha Murthy has expressed happiness on being nominated for Rajya Sabha. Responding to the news she said,  She is not in India at present. But this is a big gift for her on Women’s Day. Working for the country is a new responsibility. He has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

PM Modi tweeted and said, ‘I am delighted that the President of India has nominated @SmtSudhaMurty Ji to the Rajya Sabha. Sudha Ji’s contributions to diverse fields including social work, philanthropy and education have been immense and inspiring. Her presence in the Rajya Sabha is a powerful testament to our ‘Nari Shakti’, exemplifying the strength and potential of women in shaping our nation’s destiny. Wishing her a fruitful Parliamentary tenure”.

Sudha Murthy is the wife of Infosys co-founder N R Narayana Murthy and also the chairperson of the Murthy Trust. She is a writer, social worker. She has written many books till now. The nomination of 73-year-old Sudha Murthy has come on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The Government of India honored Sudha Murthy with Padma Shri in 2006 and Padma Bhushan in 2023.

The President of India nominates 12 members to the Upper House of the Parliament for their contributions towards arts, literature, sciences, and social services.
