New Delhi : TMC leader Mahua Moitra, expelled from Lok Sabha on charges of unethical conduct, today vacated her government bungalow. The Delhi High Court on Thursday rejected her plea and refused to stay the notice of the Estate Directorate, through which she has been asked to vacate the government residence. On Friday, the team of Estate Directorate arrived to vacate Moitra’s bungalow.

Moitra moved the Delhi High Court on thursday against the notice to vacate the government bungalow and challenged the notice of the Directorate of Estates. On the basis of cancellation of House membership, Moitra has been asked to vacate the bungalow allotted to her as an MP. The allotment of his government bungalow was canceled after she was expelled from the Lok Sabha on December 8 last year. She was asked to vacate the house by January 7.

The Delhi High Court said that no specific rule has been brought before the court which prevents the eviction of Members of Parliament from their government accommodation after they cease to be MPs. The High Court will hear Moitra’s main petition against the notice on January 24.

Earlier in December 2023, Mahua was expelled from the membership of Parliament. After this she was asked to vacate the government bungalow immediately. The Estate Directorate had issued an order to him in this regard. The Estate Directorate had issued an eviction notice to Mahua to immediately vacate the Type 5 bungalow at 9B Telegraph Lane. It was said in the notice that if Mahua Moitra did not vacate the bungalow, she would be forced to vacate it.
