World Cup 2023 Ind vs Aus : KL Rahul-Virat Kohli pair led India to victory, beat Australia by six wicket
Sports : Indian cricket team defeated five-time world champion Australia by 6 wickets in its first match of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. The heroes of this victory of Team India were KL Rahul and Virat Kohli. The century partnership between both the batsman led the team to victory.
While chasing the target of 200 runs set by Australia, India lost its three wickets within two runs. Captain Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer returned to the pavilion without opening the account. For Australia, Josh Hazlewood took three wickets and Mitchell Starc took one wicket.
From there both Virat and KL Rahul completed their respective half-centuries and took India to the victory. Kohli returned unbeaten after scoring 85 runs in 116 balls with the help of six fours while Rahul returned unbeaten after playing an inning of 97 runs in 115 balls with the help of 8 fours and two sixes. Rahul was named player of the match.
Earlier in the day, Australia won the toss while batting first and scored 199 runs in 49.3 overs.No batsman from Australia could score a half-century. Steve Smith was the only batsman, who scored the maximum 46 runs in the inning. David Warner scored 41 runs, Marnus Labuschagne scored 27 runs and Mitchell Starc scored 28 runs. For India, Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets for 28 runs in 10 overs.
Ravindra Jadeja took maximum three wickets for India. Apart from him, Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets each. Whereas Hardik Pandya, Mohammad Siraj and Ravichandran Ashwin got one dismissal each.
