Bihar : CM Nitish welcomes Bharat Ratna to Karpoori Thakur, thanks Modi Govt

Patna : On the occasion of the birth centenary celebrations of Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that Karpoori Thakur ji should have received the Bharat Ratna award long ago. JDU and socialist ideology parties were demanding this for a long time. Everyone should follow his footsteps. Speaking to reporters at the helipad, he said that Bharat Ratna is an honor for his sacrifice.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that we were continuously demanding to give Bharat Ratna to Karpoori ji. Finally he took the decision last night. So, I want to thank them (the government), it is a pleasure. He said that Karpoori ji did a lot of work for the poor and the backward. He worked for the upliftment of every section of the society. He worked in education and every other field.

Ahead of Karpoori Thakur’s 100th birth anniversary on Wednesday, it has been announced that he will be honored with Bharat Ratna posthumously. After this announcement, JDU has expressed gratitude to the Modi government.

In a statement issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan, it was said that the Government of India is very proud to announce that the country’s highest civilian honor is being given to the late Karpoori Thakur. He was a pioneer of social justice and an inspirational personality in Indian politics. This honor is a tribute to Karpoori Thakur’s lifelong contribution in the upliftment of the deprived sections of the society and his tireless efforts towards social justice.
