New Delhi : In a press brief held on saturday evening, the foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that India had agreed to a ceasefire after Pakistan reached out to India. Earlier, US President Donald Trump claimed that New Delhi and Islamabad had agreed to a “full and immediate” ceasefire.
Director General of Military Operations of Pakistan called the Director General of Military Operations of India at 15:35 hours, earlier this afternoon. It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all firing and military action on land, in the air, and sea with effect from 17:00 hours IST today
Instructions have been given on both sides to give effect to this understanding. The Directors General of Military Operations will talk again on May 12 at 12:00 hours, states the Foreign Secretary.
The MEA also announced that stoppage of firing & military action between India and Pakistan was worked out directly between the two countries.
The Pak DGMO initiated the call this afternoon after which discussions took place and understanding reached. There is no decision to hold talks on any other issue at any other place.
