Ahmedabad Plane Crash : Air India Plane With 242 Onboard Crashes, Moments After Take-Off

Ahemdabad Plane Crash :  At least 125 people feared dead after  an Air India flight carrying 242 passengers crashed near Ahmedabad airport on Thursday. The accident occurred at 1:17 PM as the plane was taking off for London.

The flight had 232 passengers and 10 crew members on board, including 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, 7 Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian. Thick smoke was seen rising from Dharpur in the Meghaninagar area of Ahmedabad. Firefighters and emergency teams have been dispatched to the site. The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.

PM Modi has taken stock of the situation and ordered immediate rescue and relief operations. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu is rushing to Ahmedabad to assess the situation. Ahmedabad airport and all operations have been temporarily closed due to the plane crash.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi termed the Ahmedabad plane crash “heartbreaking” and expressed condolences for the victims. “The pain and anxiety the families of the passengers and crew must be feeling is unimaginable. Urgent rescue and relief efforts by the administration are critical – every life matters, every second counts. Congress workers must do everything they can to help on the ground,” he said.
