Chennai Super Kings’ young sensation Ayush Mhatre made headlines with a stunning performance against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Although he narrowly missed out on a maiden IPL century, his impressive knock created history.

At just 17 years and 291 days, Ayush became the youngest player ever to score a half-century for Chennai Super Kings, surpassing the previous record held by Suresh Raina, who achieved the milestone at 21 years and 148 days back in 2008.

Ayush’s feat also earned him a place in the elite list of youngest half-century scorers in IPL history. He is now the third youngest player to achieve this milestone in the tournament. The record for the youngest still belongs to Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who stunned the cricketing world earlier this season by scoring a fifty against Gujarat Titans at the age of just 14 years and 32 days. He broke the previous record held by Riyan Parag, who scored a half-century for Rajasthan Royals in 2019 at the age of 17 years and 175 days.

Following Ayush in this elite list are Sanju Samson and Prithvi Shaw, both of whom scored their maiden IPL fifties at the age of 18 years and 169 days.

Ayush Mhatre’s composed and fearless batting against a quality RCB attack has not only won hearts but also signaled the arrival of a bright new star in Indian cricket.
